What: There will be several exciting cycling routes offered for the 2016 Tour de Blue, with 101, 76 & 50-mile options. The terrain is rolling, and there are several challenging climbs. We also anticipate including a short route. There are periodic rest stops on all of
the routes that are well stocked with food and drinks. There is full SAG
support for all of the riders. Registration fee for 101, 76 & 50-mile participants is: $45 (until 2/29/16); $55 (between 3/1/16 & 4/27/16); and $65 (day of event). Online registration is available on Active.com, with discounts available for early registration. The cost includes an event t-shirt and lunch.
We are also offering a newly designed Tour de Blue jersey for purchase. This jersey is of excellent quality and is a great way to show your support for the Tour de Blue. For more details, including sizing information, please see the description on Active.com.
When: The 2016 Edition of the Tour de Blue will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016. Onsite registration will open at 6:30 AM. The 101, 76 & 50-mile riders will start at 8 AM.
Where: The starting venue for the 2016 Tour de Blue will be Moody High School, 714 High School Drive, Moody, Alabama 35004, located just outside Birmingham. Click here for map.
Why: The goal of the Tour de Blue bicycle ride is to raise funds to help provide free prostate cancer screenings to the poorest communities in the State of Alabama, and to increase awareness of the importance of early testing and treatment of prostate cancer. Since 2007, the Urology Health Foundation has screened thousands of men for prostate cancer for free in many Alabama counties. If an abnormality is found and the patient is unable to afford treatment, the Urology Health Foundation will assist in helping to find treatment at no cost to the patient.
How you can help: Please come out and ride the Tour de Blue. The courses are scenic, and the rest stops are staffed with happy folks eager to help you enjoy your day of cycling. Your contribution helps those who are at the greatest risk of developing prostate cancer. If you can't ride but want to donate to the Urology Health Foundation, please go to our Donate Page and give any amount you choose. Also, please consider volunteering your time; you can sign up for one of the volunteer positions by contacting Jennie Alley, our Volunteer Coordinator, at medplanjda[at]aol.com. Thank you!
